Frequently Asked Questions

The signs

What are they made of?
.040-inch aluminum, the gauge used for street signage, printed with UV-stable inks, with rounded corners and four pre-drilled mounting holes. We make nothing else: no vinyl decals, no laminated paper, no plastic. How our signs are made explains why.

What size are they?
8 by 12 inches, landscape, on nearly everything. It is readable at the distance a person decides whether to open a door or step past a fence, and it fits a panel face, a vault lid, a fence, or a piling. We make exceptions when a hazard needs one.

Will they hold up outdoors?
Yes. Aluminum does not rust, and the inks are UV-stable so the red DANGER header does not drift to pink in sun. They are built for substation fences, dock pilings, vault lids, and shoreline posts, and they are the same sign indoors.

How do I mount them?
Screws, rivets, tapcons into block, zip ties through chain-link, or bolts through a post. Four corner holes are pre-drilled. We do not rely on adhesive.

Are they OSHA compliant?
Layout, signal words, and colors follow ANSI Z535, which is the format OSHA references. Where OSHA mandates specific wording, the regulated-area substances in particular, we use the exact words the standard requires. Whether a sign satisfies a requirement at your site depends on the requirement and the site, which is why we publish thirty guides on what the standards actually say.

Can they go in an MRI suite?
Yes. Aluminum is non-ferromagnetic, so it does not become a projectile near the magnet the way a steel sign or steel-framed placard does. In that category the material is a safety specification. MRI zone signage guide

Custom signs

Can you make a sign that is not in the catalog?
That is how most of the catalog got made. Describe the hazard, where the sign is going, and any wording the site requires, and we will send a proof. Same aluminum, same inks, same format. Custom safety signs

Is there a minimum?
No. One custom sign is fine.

The company

Who are you?
A family-owned manufacturer in North Mississippi. The founder spent more than a decade in telecom outside plant and fiber construction before making signs, which is why the catalog looks the way it does. About CGAP Safety

Why do you make signs for hazards nobody else covers?
Because somebody stood at that hazard and needed one. Most of our best sellers started as a single custom order.
