Safety Signage for Marinas, Waterfronts, and Lake Property

Our best-selling sign is one most people have never heard of. That is the whole problem it solves.

Electric shock drowning kills swimmers who show no injury and leave no evidence. Low-level AC current leaks into fresh water from a boat or from dock wiring, paralyzes a swimmer, and the death gets recorded as an ordinary drowning. The water looks normal. The current is invisible. A sign at the water's edge is the entire control for someone who has never heard the term.

Water and waterfront signs

What waterfront property actually has to post

Electric shock drowning. NEC Article 555 now requires marinas, boatyards, and docking facilities to post a permanent shock hazard warning, with specific wording, visible from every approach to the water. Many facilities built before those provisions have no ground fault protection and no signage, and no obligation to retrofit until inspected. That gap is where the deaths are. Guide: electric shock drowning and what NEC 555 requires

Drowning and drop-offs. Sudden drop-offs, deep water, hidden debris, no-swimming enforcement at basins and reservoirs, and children unattended near pools. These face the public, so they need to be readable by a child and survive a decade on a piling.

Intakes and outfalls. Strong suction at water intakes, entrapment and crush at outflow pipes, and reservoir bank erosion. Municipal and utility waterfronts carry hazards that recreational signage never mentions.

Docks and mooring. Dock mooring entanglement, mooring bollard snapback, and dock edge falls at commercial waterfronts. A parted mooring line kills, and a bollard sign is the only warning a visitor gets.

Seasonal. Thin ice and rapidly changing tides, toxic blue-green algae blooms, and pool chemical storage with acid and chlorine separation.

Fuel docks. Fuel transfer static discharge, no smoking, flammable vapors, and emergency shut-off identification at the fuel dock.

Why aluminum at the water

Spray, sun, freeze cycles, and salt. A sign on a piling or a gangway rail lives in the worst conditions a sign can face. Every sign we make is .040 rust-resistant aluminum with UV-stable inks and pre-drilled holes, because the ESD sign that saves a life in year five has to still be readable in year five.

Who buys these

Marina operators, lake associations, municipal parks and recreation, campgrounds, and individual dock owners. Marina and municipal orders usually come as purchase orders, often tax-exempt. We ship within 24 hours and ten or more signs take 10% off automatically, which a marina outfitting every slip approach clears immediately. Get in touch.
